A new system for quality control and certificates issuance
Improvement and the desire for growth have always been part of our founding values, and even in this latest case, they have been the driving force of a great innovation.
GEMINIS, this is the name of the completely in-house designed software, that our Operation Data Manager in collaboration with the quality department and the Eurotubi laboratory, has developed to upscale our internal procedures for quality control and certificate issuance.
After almost one year of meetings among the different departments, and of trial to understand how to efficiently organize and enhance each step, today we can proudly say that we are in possession of an exclusive tool. In fact, Geminis has automatized and speeded the entire process of analysis, quality and control up, increasing both the precision in the data collection, and the attention towards the final customer.
The main goal of this long and accurate project was that of creating a structured data flow from the raw materials’ check-in, through the laboratory testing, to the issuance of certificates. Indeed, thanks to this key enhancement, we can now issue only and exclusively the best in terms of safety and certification, offering to all our customers the 3.1 Certificate Eurotubi.

The benefits for our customers
Before Geminis, the check-in process, the laboratory analysis, and the final issuance of the certificates had been performed manually, in paper format, and each single procedure was then shelved in binders.
To issue one certificate, we took even several days because we needed to collect all the materials going from an office to the other, write all the data concerning that product batch, the results of the chemical and mechanical analysis, and, finally, issue the required document.
The introduction of Geminis has enabled us to re-arrange in fast and easy steps all the internal quality control workflow. Specially designed for Eurotubi, based on our internal software such as the ERP system, the WMS and the MES, with Geminis we have observed a sharp reduction of the time devoted to both the data collection, and the following elaboration of the certificate.
Moreover, all the data are automatically saved in the software, and they can be retrieved whenever by all the operators, therefore creating a real file storage. The autofilling, as well as the fact that each employee must use this software daily to collect and transmit all the data to the following department, eliminates all the clerical mistakes, and the dispersion of information.
All things considered, Geminis represents a leap ahead not only for us at Eurotubi, but above all for our customers, who from now on can rely on a precise, reliable and fast system of quality control and issuance of certificates.
From analogue to digital: what problem do Geminis solve, and how does it work?
Geminis is divided in 3 sections, that reflects the 3 departments and the 3 main steps that lead to the real creation of the 3.1 Certificate Eurotubi.
All starts at the check-in, where the raw material arrives at Eurotubi; here our operator logs in the dedicated section, and fills in the form by entering all the data concerning the type of the material, the product batch and the information got by a first analysis:
- Documentary compliance
- Visual analysis;
- Dimensional check of the raw material.
During this step, the employee attaches to each product batch a tag containing an ET number, which will identify only and exclusively that batch. The operator’s last task is to take a sample for each ET number and deliver it to the colleague in the laboratory. Finally, the operator gives a first result regarding the checks he performed; if everything was good, he selects a green light on the form of the material, meaning it can now be checked by the laboratory.
In Eurotubi Laboratory, the sample taken before undergoes the chemical and mechanical analysis. At the end of the testing, the laboratory expert logs into Geminis and fills the second part of the form in, by entering all the data coming from the machines. Now, the operator can finally store the procedure. If both the chemical and mechanical tests have been passed, the employee selects a second green light on the form within the software. All the ET numbers that receive two green lights can have a Green Tag, identifying this material as ready to be transferred from the check-in to the raw materials warehouse because safe and suitable for the production of our tubes.
The 3.1 Certificate Eurotubi
The third and last section of Geminis is the one for the quality department, accountable for the issuance of the certifications we provide our customers with. Our quality manager doesn’t need to do anything but enter the customer code, the number of the order and the ET, that the system will be able to recover all the analysis previously performed, offering to our operator a well-organized and properly collected data flow. Here there is our 3.1 Certificate Eurotubi, finally ready to be printed or transmitted to the customer as PDF file.
Geminis issues a valid and official document that guarantees the quality, suitability, and safety of the material used to manufacture each of our tubes.
