Magnelis is a new and groundbreaking tube coating, which represents the latest frontier in terms of corrosion resistance, durability, and quality. Basically, Magnelis is a revolutionary coating alloy, combining zinc with 3.5% of aluminum and 3% magnesium, which acts as a barrier to corrosion even in the most hostile environments.

Eurotubi is currently one of the few Italian companies able to produce tubes using this special material, making us a pioneer in this sense. Our diameters range for Magnelis tubes, going from Ø40 mm to Ø304 mm, is the widest in Europe, while, as to wall thicknesses, our Magnelis tubes are now available from 1.5 mm to 4.5 mm and they can reach up to 12 m length. As all our tubes, even Magnelis ones are fin cut and perfectly welded, in addition, this metallic coating can be applied to a wide variety of steel grades. Our new Magnelis tubes undergo an eco-friendly E-passivation, can be post-painted without changing their incredible corrosion resistance, and finally they are oiled.

Why choose Magnelis over galvanized?

The key advantage of Magnelis tubes compared to galvanized ones is Magnelis’ precise composition, which creates a stable and durable layer of protection, able to block corrosion and prevent the creation of red rust. In fact, if zinc coated tubes will generally oxide when in contact with the external environment, Magnelis coating ensures the maximum resistance both on flat and highly deformed areas (bending and profiling). In particular, after 6 weeks of salt spray testing performed in laboratory by Arcelor Mittal, one of the best and most important steel producer worldwide, and the one, which invented this particular coating, no red rust has been observed on Magnelis strips compared to galvanized ones.

Magnelis tubes and their self-healing effect

The so-called self-healing effect is another unique characteristic of this incredible coating, meaning that Magnelis tubes are actually able to self-repair, therefore protecting both the surface and deformed zones, especially on the welded area, which is the weakest point as to corrosion. This is possible because of the combination of the precise amount of magnesium and aluminum contained in the alloy, that together activate a special process aiming at covering and gradually substituting the red rust with white rust. The ability of creating this protective layer also over uncoated edges, perforations, and scratches extends well beyond the life of Magnelis tubes compared to pre- and post-galvanized ones.

The exceptional coating for a wide range of applications

We can definitely state that for the environment it is almost impossible to pierce this magnesium-based film, even after long exposures, making Magnelis a proof of long-lasting quality.

For this reason, Magnelis tubes are the best choice for outdoor applications such as in the agricultural sector, in which they can be used to manufacture screw conveyors, animal housing or grain storage systems. More precisely, they are widely used in the construction of silos, since Magnelis’ specific composition reduces the abrasive effect of grain and other cereals on the internal part of the tube. Moreover, Magnelis tubes can make the difference even in viticulture, where they are generally employed as vineyard poles. Another field in which our Magnelis tubes are the optimal choice is the building sector, especially for industrial doors or geodesic domes manufacturing.

Magnelis: the environmental sustainable choice

By choosing Magnelis tubes instead of common galvanized ones, you will also contribute to the creation of a cleaner and more sustainable world. In fact, Magnelis is 100% recyclable and do not contain harmful elements, making it a real eco-friendly material.

As to its production, Magnelis’ carbon footprint is substantially smaller compared to other durable materials, such as pure aluminum or stainless steel. Finally, since significantly less zinc is employed in the production of this special alloy, opting for Magnelis tubes enables the reduction of uncontrolled extraction of zinc from the soil.
