We are happy to announce that also in the Tube Mill P3 we have implemented the Eddy Current Testing, a state-of-the-art system to verify the welding quality of steel tubes and assess their condition and lifespan.

Eddy Current Testing is a non-destructive testing method (NDT) widely used to examine quality of steel tubing. This technique is applied to detect corrosion, pitting, cracks and other welding defects to both the tube’s interior and exterior surfaces. Moreover, it can be performed continuously during production of carbon steel tubing.

Eddy current testing uses electromagnetic induction to identify defects in tubing.

Eddy currents are generated by the electromagnetic coils in the probe and monitored simultaneously by measuring probe electrical impedance. The information revealed by the probe will detail the tube defects. The scanning data are recorded by the software and kept to us as a backup for future reference. A benefit of Eddy Current Testing is that detection of defects is instant, and can be reported immediately to site or operation managers. This kind of equipment allows us to guarantee the highest quality level of our products and meet customer’s requirements.
